The Work in Gobgob, Tabuk
Many years ago, Brother Andy Dappas started preaching here. We often think of the hours he spent just walking to reach this place. Back then, there were only about 10 faithful Christians gathering together. Today, it is a two-hour drive for us each way up into the mountains of Tabuk, but the trip is always worth it. The people living here are so kind, joyful, and truly faithful.
These brethren have faced difficult trials. In December 2024, when our country was hit by six super typhoons in a row, the Lord provided a way to help them. Through your generous support, we were able to bring them relief aid. We have also been blessed to help with specific daily needs among the flock, such as providing a much-needed wheelchair for Sister Labaccu. They are deeply thankful and always praise God for the care shown by the church.
God is giving the increase in these mountains! We held a gospel meeting on March 22, 2025, and so many people came that the old church building simply could not hold them all. We held another meeting on December 8, 2025, where 3 more souls were baptized into Christ, adding to the growing number of believers. Because of this wonderful problem, a new, larger church building is being constructed right now in early 2026. We thank God and all of you for making this possible.
During the first few months of 2026, we have dedicated our Tuesdays to working heavily in this area. We are preaching the gospel, handing out Bibles and tracts, teaching the lost, and encouraging the church. The congregation here has now grown to around 30 souls.
We are constantly humbled by their immense generosity during our weekly visits. They are wonderful cooks, and to show their appreciation for the teaching, they often gather bananas, camote, fresh fruits, vegetables, and sugarcanes straight from their fields to give to us before we make the long drive home. It is a beautiful picture of Christian fellowship.
We are hoping and praying that the Lord will open doors to establish new congregations in the nearby sitios of Talac and Waya, right here in the village of Gobgob. Praise be to God!
"Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved." — Acts 2:47
